The Healthy Homes Difference

You see, folks, the real problem is that each of the two types of carpet cleaners is proving just one half of the required cleaning process, and each attempts to sell the public on believing that his half is best.   Neither the dry clean method nor the steam clean method is better than the other.  Each is one half of a whole!

The Healthy Homes difference is that we put together these two methods to produce what the the homeowner really desires - an extraordinarily thorough clean at a reasonable price.

"Two" Cleanings for the Price of One

First I will apply a powerful yet family and environmentally friendly pre-treatment of hot citrus-rind extract combined with the cleaning power of oxygen and natural enzymes on all areas to be cleaned in your home to break the bond between the oily soils and poluutants that make your carpet look dingy and dirty and your carpet's yarns.  This will make each fiber as clean, bright, fluffy and soft as it can be!

And not only that, while other carpet cleaners charge for deodorizer, Healthy Homes' pre-spray includes, at no additional cost to you, Microban Clean Carpet Sanitizer, to deodorize your carpet while protecting against odor-causing bacteria and fungi, makling your carpet cleaner than clean, providing peace of mind to you for where you family plays and relaxes!

Then, at no additinal cost to you, just like the dry-cleaning carpet cleaners, I scrub your carpet with a specially designed, carpet manufacturer approved, counter-rotating brush machine, pulling out hair, dirt, dust and grime that vacuuming fails to remove (and the other carpet cleaners leave behind).  This effectively yet gently suspends the soils attached to your carpet fibers so that this dirt can be cleanly rinsed away, while at the same time rejuvenating, lifting, and fluffing tired, flat, and matted traffic lanes!

At this point, the dry-method carpet cleaners are finished and ready for you to write them a check, even though at this point, no soil has actually been removed from your carpet! The dirt that prompted you to call a carpet cleaner in the first place is still there, but it has been "hidden" by the dry cleaners detergent and scrubbing.  Healthy Homes knows better.  We know that you called a carpet cleaner not just to get a temporary appearance of clean carpet, but because you really want your carpets to be cleaned!

So last, but not least, and again, at no additional cost to you, and only now that your carpet has been properly prepared do I bring in the steam cleaning wand.  I use a reasonably high pressure FRESH WATER STEAM RINSE (the only method recommended by Shaw, America's largest carpet manufacturer), blasting and flushing the oily contaminants and soils from your carpet fibers, into my vacuum hoses, out of your home, and into my truck so that your carpet dries Clean, Bright, Fluffy, and Soft!

What is The Best Way to Clean

Carpets?  Dry Clean or Steam Clean?

The Answer May Surprise You!

The Best Way to Clean Carpet

Like many folks looking for carpet cleaning here in the Lehigh Valley, you probably wonder what is the best way to clean carpet.  Well, the best way to clean carpets may surprise you!

A Sad Tale of Two Carpet Cleaners (but with a Happy (Healthy Homes)) Ending

Most folks here in the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton area are familiar with the two types of carpet cleaning companies - the dry carpet cleaners, and the steam carpet cleaners.  Each has its strengths, though neither is sufficient on its own to clean your carpets thoroughly.

Dry-Cleaning, Quick Dry Methods

The dry carpet cleaning companies typically apply a pre-spray cleaning detergent to your carpet, and then run a scrubbing machine over your carpet to suspend the soils that are causing your carpet to look dull.  This method does an excellent job of knocking these oily based soils loose from your carpet yarns.  And your carpet will dry very quickly, usually in less than an hour.  But, that quick dry-time comes with a trade-off, a trade-off which I call the dry cleaner's "dirty" little secret:  You see, the reason your carpet dries so quickly is because there has been no rinsing of the carpet, and thus no extraction.  The soils that prompted you to call a carpet cleaner, and the detergent sprayed on your carpet by the dry cleaner, are both still there!   Your carpet will look better, at least for a short while.  But you paid for clean carpet, and yet that is most emphatically what you did not get!

Steam Cleaning

The steam carpet cleaning companies, on the other hand, do rinse your carpet.  If I were not a carpet cleaner myself, I would choose a steam cleaner over a dry cleaner any day of the week.  Why?  Well,  while the dry carpet cleaner does a great job of loosening the sticky and oily soils that give your carpet the "uglies," the soils is not removed.  The steam carpet cleaner removes far more soil than a dry cleaner ever could.  Think about it this way - Your carpet is a big piece of fabric - a piece of laundry, if you will.    Would you wash your clothes with detergent but skip the rinse cycle?  Of course not, because then you'd be wearing clothing that not only still had the soils in its fibers, but now it had a detergent residue as well!    Just like your laundry, your carpet cannot be cleaned properly without being flushed with nature's very own cleaning solvent - good ol' Water, H2O! But wait, the steam cleaners have a problem too ...

Two Carpet Cleaning Methods Sharing the Same Problem

You see, while the dry cleaner's method does a wonderful job of knocking the dirt loose but without rinsing it away, the steam cleaners rinse soil away, but because they do not first scrub the carpet, the typical steam cleaner does not rinse away nearly as much soil as he should.  In addition, because the steam cleaner is not scrubbing the carpet as the dry cleaner does, the steam cleaner relies upon strong chemcials and a soaking, ultra-high pressure steam rinse that can leave the carpet wet for a prolonged period of time. Furthermore, since there is a chemical in their rinse water, when the water evaporates, the chemical residue is left behind.  That residue is essentially a "dirt-magnet."  Just like the dry cleaner's residue, the typical steam cleaner has left behind a residue that will cause your carpets to look dirty again much more quickly than they should.

So what is the Lehigh Valley homeowner looking for a carpet cleaning company to do?  If she hires a dry carpet cleaning company, her carpets will dry fast but with most of the soil still intact.  What's worse is that she now has a now a dirt attracting residue in her carpets as well.  If she hires a typical steam cleaning carpet cleaner, her carpets will have some of the soil flushed away, but again, her carpets now have a chemical residue that will cause rapid resoiling.   And who knows what the health impact on you and your family may be over the long-term of having these chemical residues breaking down in you home?
